WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF PUNASA DAM (INDIRA SAGAR DAM), MADHYA PRADESH

The Indirasagar Dam (Punasa Dam) is a multipurpose key project of Madhya Pradesh on the Narmada river at Nagar in Khandwa (Tehsil West Nimar district) India.The physical and chemical properties water including temperature, pH, transparency, dissolved oxygen, biological oxygen demand, hardness, nitrate, calcium phosphorus concentration, were monitored from October 2018 to September 2019. parameters analyzed as per APHA, revealed that there fewer variations physicochemical results received through entire one year study showed status quality quite normal within permissible limit mentioned with ISI.Moreover, according findings this research their comparison national international guidelines/standards, it could be said Punasa dam during period was acceptable. However, due changes occurred nitrate extensive development eutrophication problem, accurate continuous evaluation reservoir deemed necessary.
